The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 The closing night, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 where then are you going? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
