The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 And when the seas rise, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 So where are you going? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
