The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 and the night that falls, 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
