The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 by the night swarming, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
