The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 that hide, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 So where are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
