Al-Takweer
The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 And when the books are spread, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
