The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 The closing night, 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
