The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is covered, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
