The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars fall, 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 The closing night, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
