Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat) before The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is cleft asunder, 1 when the stars are scattered, 2 And when the oceans are swept away. 3 and when the graves are overturned 4 A soul will [then] know what it has put forth and kept back. 5 O mankind, what has deceived you concerning your Lord, the Generous, 6 who created you, fashioned you and proportioned you, 7 In whatever form He willed, He put you together. 8 Nay! But ye do reject Right and Judgment! 9 And yet, verily, there are ever-watchful forces over you, 10 Noble and recording; 11 They know whatever you do. 12 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 13 And most surely the wicked are in burning fire, 14 They will enter it on the Day of Justice. 15 And will not be able to hide from it. 16 And what will make you know what the Day of Recompense is? 17 Again would that you only knew how terrible it really is! 18 A day when no soul shall possess aught to succour another soul; that day the Command shall belong unto God. 19
