Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat) before The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is cleft asunder, 1 and when the stars are scattered; 2 when the oceans are gushed forth, 3 and the graves are turned inside out, 4 A soul will know what it hath sent before (it) and what left behind. 5 O man! What has deceived you away from your Lord, the Most Beneficent? 6 who created you, formed you and proportioned you? 7 In whatsoever form He listed He constructed thee. 8 By no means! Aye, ye belie the Requital. 9 But verily over you (are appointed angels) to protect you,- 10 Kind and honourable,- Writing down (your deeds): 11 They know whatsoever ye do. 12 Behold, [in the life to come] the truly virtuous: will indeed be in bliss, 13 And verily, the Fujjar (the wicked, disbelievers, sinners and evil-doers) will be in the blazing Fire (Hell), 14 Roasted they shall be therein on the Day of Requital. 15 And they (Al-Fujjar) will not be absent therefrom (i.e. will not go out from the Hell). 16 What could let you know what the Day of Recompense is! 17 Then, what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense? 18 On that day, no soul will be of any benefit to any other soul. On that day, all affairs will be in the hands of God. 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
