The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ruin is for the defrauders. (Those who measure less.) 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 On a Great Day, 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 Indeed! The record of the wicked is in the Sijjin -- 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 The record is a sealed text. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one 12 And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 a written record, 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 upon their faces thou wilt see the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 On thrones, they will look. 35 Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? 36
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
