The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Do such people not realize that they will be raised up, 4 On a grievous day, 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe on that day to the rejecters, 10 who belied the Day of Recompense! 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 It is a distinctly written record 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 On couches face to face. 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And when the believers used to pass by, they used to gesture at each other with their eyes. 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
