The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 Whereas when they give others after measuring or weighing, they give them less! 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 On a mighty Day. 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 The record is a sealed text. 9 Ah the woe that day for those who deny, 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. 14 By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. 15 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 On couches face to face. 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 seated upon their couches, they are looking around. 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
