The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 What! Do they not expect that they will be raised? 4 On a grievous day, 5 when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 The record is a sealed text. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. 15 Then they shall roast in Hell, 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 A written record, 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 resting on couches, looking around. 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 The spring from which drink the ones close to Allah. 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 when them passed them by winking at one another, 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 upon couches gazing. 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
