The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Woe to the stinters who, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 on a Great Day, 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in Sijjin. 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe, that Day, to those that deny- 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Yes indeed - they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun. 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 The record is a sealed text. 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 You will recognize in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 Its seal is upon musk; and for this should those who crave be eager. 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink. 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 seated upon their couches, they are looking around. 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
True are the words of God the Almighty.
