The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 For a mighty day, 5 when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Indeed! The record of the wicked is in the Sijjin -- 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 No indeed! Verily, the deeds of the virtuous shall be in the record of the exalted ones. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 It is a Book inscribed, 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 resting on couches, looking around. 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
