The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to the stinters; 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations 10 who belied the Day of Recompense! 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 Yes indeed – they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? 19 A written record, 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They will be given to drink pure sealed wine. 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah. 28 Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? 36
