The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 on a fateful Day. 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 a written record, 20 The ones nearest to God will bring it to public. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 resting on couches, looking around. 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 When they returned to their people they returned jesting; 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
