The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 Unto an Awful Day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)]. 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 (It is) a marked Book, 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 resting on couches, looking around. 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 Blended with the water of Tasnim, (heights ultimate of evolution), 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? 36
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
