The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Ruin is for the defrauders who measure less. 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient. 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 On a mighty Day. 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to the deniers, 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 A Register inscribed. 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss, 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). 25 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 And when the believers used to pass by, they used to gesture at each other with their eyes. 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, "Indeed they have gone astray." 32 And withal, they have no call to watch over [the beliefs of] others... 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
