The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to the stinters who, 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 on a Great Day, 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen. 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 A book inscribed. 9 Ah the woe that day for those who deny, 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!" 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 A book inscribed, 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 BEHOLD, those who have abandoned themselves to sin are wont to laugh at such as have attained to faith 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
