The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? 19 A Register inscribed. 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss, 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 You will find in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
