The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Woe to the stinters who, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient. 3 Do not these think that they shall be raised again 4 unto a mighty day 5 The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe on that day to the rejecters, 10 those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. 11 And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 No indeed! Verily, the deeds of the virtuous shall be in the record of the exalted ones. 18 And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? 19 A Register inscribed. 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 Its seal is upon musk; and for this should those who crave be eager. 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. 31 And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!" 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded for what they did? 36
