The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Woe to the defrauders, 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Do such people not realize that they will be raised up, 4 For a mighty day, 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen. 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 And what will make you know what the highest Iliyin is? 19 a written record, 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 On couches face to face. 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, 27 A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers, 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
