The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Ruin is for the defrauders. (Those who measure less.) 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 on a Great Day, 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen. 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 The record is a sealed text. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 and then they shall enter Hell, 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 A Register inscribed. 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight. 24 They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). 25 Its seal is upon musk; and for this should those who crave be eager. 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
