The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to the stinters who, 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 on a Great Day, 5 The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to those that deny- 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 To which bear witness those brought nigh. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers 25 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Did not the disbelievers get repaid for what they used to do? 36
God the Almighty always says the truth.
