The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to the defrauders, 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 on a great day 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 Not at all – but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 a written record, 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 Its seal is upon musk; and for this should those who crave be eager. 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers 34 upon couches gazing. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
