The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)? 6 Indeed! The record of the wicked is in the Sijjin -- 7 And what will make you know what Sijjin is? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 Those who deny the Day of Justice. 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 A record [indelibly] inscribed, 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 And withal, they have no call to watch over [the beliefs of] others... 33 This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers, 34 as they sit on couches, gazing around. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
