Al-Inshiqaaq
The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
25 verses, revealed in Mecca after Shattering (Al-Infitaar) before The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
True are the words of God the Almighty.
