The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
