The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
