The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
