The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
