The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
