The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
