The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 Will pray for death, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
