The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
