The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 Will pray for death, 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
