The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
