The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
