The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
