The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
