The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
