The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
