The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
