The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
