The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 Will pray for death, 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
