The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
