The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
